What is an arm reduction?

An arm reduction, also known as brachioplasty, is a procedure in which excess skin and fat is removed from the area between the elbow and the armpit. This helps to create a more aesthetically pleasing contour, and generally improves the appearance of this area of the body.

Is the procedure right for me?

Brachioplasty is best suited to patients who have an excess of sagging, loose skin in the upper arms caused either by considerable weight loss, or as a result of ageing. If you’re wondering how do u get rid of underarm fat then you must concider Brachioplasty. While some exercises can certainly help to improve muscle tone in the arms, it is not possible to get rid of excess skin with exercise and dietary changes. An arm reduction procedure is an effective means of achieving a firmer, more toned appearance. During the procedure, small incisions are made in the arms through which excess fat can be removed. The underlying tissues in the arms are then tightened.

What can I expect from the recovery period?

After an arm reduction procedure, your arms will be dressed with bandages to help minimise swelling. You may also have drainage tubes placed to drain excess fluid following surgery. After these tubes and bandages have been removed, you may need to wear a compression garment for several weeks. This will help to reduce swelling and aid the healing process.

We recommend that you avoid lifting your arms above the level of your shoulders for around a month, and you will also need to avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting for up to two months.
