Dermal fillers can be safely used to refresh the skin around the eyes.
If you’ve noticed that the skin around your eyes looks worn-out all the time, you might be wondering if there is anything you can do to refresh your appearance. Dermal fillers, which are a non-invasive treatment, can be used in many areas of the face, including near the eyes. Read on to find out more about the treatment and what it involves, and if it’s a procedure that’s suited to your needs…
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers involve the use of a natural substance that is injected into a target area of skin to address visible signs of ageing. Dermal fillers help to resolve cosmetic issues such as fine lines and loss of volume in the face. They can be used in many areas of the face, including the cheeks, jawline, lips and brows. They can also be used to rejuvenate the appearance of the skin around and under the eyes.
When administered under the eyes, dermal fillers help to add volume to the skin. The treatment also brightens the skin and reduces shadows underneath the eyes.
Who is suited to the treatment?
If you have noticed the skin under your eyes looks darker or more worn-out than before, you are not alone. Many people struggle with these issues as they age. Other possible causes include poor sleep, dehydration, pigmentation and visible blood vessels. Dermal fillers below the eyes are often an effective treatment for individuals whose concerns are caused by ageing or genetic factors. If, however, lifestyle factors are affecting the appearance of your skin, you should try to make some changes before considering dermal fillers under your eyes.
If you have naturally sunken eyes that tend to cast shadows underneath your eyelids, you may be a suitable candidate for dermal fillers in this area. If you have experienced a loss of volume and plumpness under your eyes as a result of ageing, dermal fillers may be a good option for you.
If you’re not sure whether or not you are suited to dermal fillers around the eyes, we encourage you to come in for a consultation so that we can discuss your aesthetic goals, as well as any concerns that you might have.
Are they safe?
Dermal fillers are considered a safe and effective treatment, even when administered in the area surrounding the eyes. It is important to note, however, that there are some possible side-effects associated with the procedure.
You may notice some redness and bruising at the site of injection, as well as some swelling. The swelling can last for up to 48 hours following treatment, after which you will be able to see the results of the procedure. If you have any concerns about the possible side-effects of dermal fillers, you should raise them with Dr Lam before beginning the treatment process.
